# Product Updates

## September 3, 2026

## **Document Tests**

Cable tests your customer and transaction data against the controls in each framework and flags what does not pass. Some requirements cannot be evidenced that way. A board-approved policy either exists or it does not, and the officer designation and annual training records usually live as documents.

That half often lived in a shared drive, tracked in a spreadsheet someone had to keep current. Document Tests cover it. A document test is satisfied by a document rather than by data, and sits against the same controls and frameworks as everything else in Cable.

You can create your own document tests in Cable for obligations you already track outside the product. A built-in BSA/AML library is also available with support.

**Key Features:**

* **Upload Against the Requirement**: Each test states what it checks and what your evidence needs to show, so you upload against the requirement itself rather than into a general document store

  ![Document test detail](/_fern-img/b1da53dfd48ffe209b913f9aacfef1edc242f8ca00693163fba6cbbe6b483a63.webp)

* **Clear Evidence Status**: Tests use three statuses: **Passing**, **Due soon**, and **Needs evidence**. The [Document Tests guide](/knowledge-base/product-guides/document-tests) explains how renewal dates and the 30-day due-soon window work

  ![Document Tests list](/_fern-img/9fbc3248e9d71b998680a0adee5a9e0ff52d6924e914df9fef3e5da3becd9eda.webp)

* **Renewal Cadence Per Test**: Each test sets its own cadence, so an annual policy review and a document that never expires behave differently without any manual tracking

* **Permanent Evidence History**: Submitted evidence is never overwritten or deleted. Every document a test has ever held stays attached, with who uploaded it and when

  ![Document test evidence](/_fern-img/a17be3a08858e8eac6e33afc2af90cf6ed83624f76a6b91844fa37a26d12d3d7.webp)

* **Same Frameworks, Separate Record**: Document Tests sit against the same controls and frameworks as automated tests, while tracking evidence currency separately. They create no Paper Trails and no findings

Your controls can now show the evidence that data can prove and the documents that need to stay current. Full detail is in the [Document Tests guide](/knowledge-base/product-guides/document-tests).

## **BSA/AML Document Test Library**

Ten document tests are built and ready to enable, covering the BSA/AML program pillars and the procedures beneath them. Each one cites the paragraph of 31 CFR it answers to.

**The four program pillars:**

* A written, board-approved BSA/AML compliance program is in place
* A BSA/AML compliance officer has been formally designated
* Independent testing of the BSA/AML program has been performed
* BSA/AML training has been provided to appropriate personnel

**The six operating procedures:**

* A written Customer Identification Program is maintained
* Enhanced due diligence procedures define when additional information is collected, and what is collected
* A transaction monitoring procedure is maintained
* A suspicious activity reporting procedure is maintained
* Controls limiting knowledge of a suspicious activity report are documented
* The currency transaction reporting position is stated and remains accurate

Every test carries its eCFR citation, a link to the FFIEC BSA/AML Examination Manual, and a methodology listing the specific points your evidence needs to cover, so a reviewer can trace each test back to the requirement it exists for. Nine of the ten renew annually. The compliance officer designation carries no renewal date, because the designation stands until you change it.

**To enable the BSA document tests for your organization, contact [Synctera support](mailto:support@synctera.com).**

## **Custom Document Tests**

Where an obligation is not covered by the library, you can now author your own document test rather than tracking it outside Cable.

**Key Features:**

* **Create Your Own**: Choose the control it belongs to, describe what the evidence needs to show, and set how often it must be renewed. Leave the cadence blank for an obligation whose evidence does not go stale

  ![Create document test](/_fern-img/a227f3acb57160041df3db7a26df01e71ce05c419b4313e7d2749383936557d3.webp)

* **Assign Across Programs**: Apply a test to every program it covers in one step. Each program gets its own copy to evidence separately, so an obligation worded once is created once

* **Same Behavior as the Library**: Custom tests carry cadence, renewal, ownership, and evidence history exactly as the built-in tests do

An obligation you currently track in a spreadsheet becomes a test with an owner, a place in your framework, and a renewal date where one applies.

## **Test Ownership and Archiving**

Document tests can now be assigned to a named person, and retired without losing what they collected. Owners are notified in Cable and by email, and anything of theirs still needing evidence appears on their home page alongside their Paper Trails. Assigning a test to yourself notifies no one.

Archiving stops a test collecting new evidence and takes it out of your active queue, while keeping everything it already holds. That evidence is the record that the obligation was met while the test was live, which is exactly what an audit asks for. Nothing deletes a document test, so who retired what, and when, stays answerable.

## **AI Assistance for Document Tests**

Two optional AI features now sit in Document Tests. You trigger both deliberately, and neither has any bearing on a test's status.

**Key Features:**

* **Draft a Description**: When authoring a custom test, generate a description from its name and control, or improve a description you have already written

* **Summarize a Document**: A **Summarize** button on any uploaded document returns a plain summary of what it says, including substantive points and recorded details like document type, dates, and signatories

  ![Document preview and AI summary](/_fern-img/2bdf5f5bedd7ac74d56bfab11cb0d2db325d1ef9364e88fc96b0af444772b3dd.webp)

* **Available to Reviewers**: Summarizing needs only read access, so someone who can view a test's evidence but not edit the test can still use it

* **Downloadable**: Summaries can be downloaded alongside the document they describe

* **Status Stays Yours**: A summary describes a document rather than judging it. Status is derived from the evidence on file and its renewal date alone, so it stays reproducible years after the fact

You get a faster read of a long document without handing any part of the compliance decision to a model.

---

Your compliance framework no longer needs to split automated checks in Cable from policy documents in a shared drive. Document Tests bring those documents into the same controls and frameworks, while keeping the compliance decision with your team.

To get started, read the [Document Tests guide](/knowledge-base/product-guides/document-tests) and create your own document test. To enable the BSA/AML library for your organization, contact [Synctera support](mailto:support@synctera.com).

## **Paper Trails Overhaul**

Paper Trails has been rebuilt with a faster list, better visibility from the homepage, and correct workspace scoping across parent and child organizations.

**Key Features:**

* **Faster List**: Filtering, sorting, and pagination stay fast and consistent even on the largest organizations with thousands of trails

  ![Paper Trails List](/_fern-img/4235807c792ec3c3e70e1dfdc2706ef2b6c9f9113dec7ed8e6efe5931abf4d3f.webp)

* **Search**: A new search bar on the list lets you find a specific trail by keyword instead of scanning or filtering down to it

* **Homepage Widgets**: Paper Trails metrics now surface on your homepage so the most urgent work is visible the moment you log in

* **Workspace Scoping**: The list respects your selected workspace consistently, so parent-org users no longer see child-org trails bleed into their default view

These improvements deliver a faster day-to-day experience for compliance teams managing large trail volumes and eliminate cross-workspace visibility confusion.

## **Analytics Out of Beta**

Analytics has graduated from beta to a core part of Cable. The feature is now available to every organization by default (no feature flag required), and the legacy Dashboard has been retired in favor of a single Analytics home.

**Key Features:**

* **Always-On Access**: The BETA label has been removed. Analytics is now part of the standard experience for all organizations
* **Dashboard Retired**: The legacy Dashboard page has been removed. All of its functionality lives in Analytics, and existing bookmarks redirect there automatically
* **Cleaner Navigation**: The sidebar no longer shows a separate Dashboard entry, leaving one clear entry point to all compliance metrics

Analytics now provides one unified place for executive, subject, and QA insights, removing ambiguity about where to find compliance data and simplifying the sidebar for every team.

## **Risk Assessment Wizard Refresh**

The Risk Assessment wizard has been overhauled with a cleaner navigation pattern, scores that update as you edit, and a noticeably faster page load. URLs have been simplified at the same time, and the deprecated Custom Risk Builder has been retired.

**Key Features:**

* **Tabbed Stage Navigation**: The breadcrumb-style stepper has been replaced with a tab strip that mirrors the rest of Cable. Each tab shows at-a-glance progress for that stage, and Download PDF now lives next to the status badges in the header
* **Live Header Scores**: Inherent and residual risk scores in the header now update the moment you change an answer or risk, instead of staying stale until a reload
* **Faster Page Load**: A round of behind-the-scenes optimizations cut the wizard's initial load time roughly in half on populated assessments
* **Read-Only Polish**: Multi-select, dropdown, and numeric-with-units questions now render their values correctly in read-only mode (previously some appeared blank or partial)
* **Simpler URLs**: `/risk-assessment/fincrime/...` has been flattened to `/risk-assessment/...`, with permanent redirects so old links continue to work
* **Custom Risk Builder Retired**: The standalone Custom Risk Builder surface has been removed. All risk-area editing now happens within the assessment itself

A faster, more polished wizard, with progress and scores that stay in sync with the work you're actually doing.

## **Document-Driven Workflow Creation**

Workflows can now be drafted from your own compliance documents. Upload policies, procedures, or regulations, describe the scope, and Cable proposes a complete workflow (tests, data attribute mappings, and source citations) for you to review and approve before anything is saved.

**Key Features:**

* **From Documents Tab**: A new path on workflow creation accepts one or more documents alongside a scope description

  ![Document-Driven Workflow Creation](/_fern-img/aa374af5ca1339a1e44866abee8376dcdca9c18be4bc38c7164336d40bd2dfbe.webp)

* **Reviewable Drafts**: Each proposed test shows the source document citation and the data fields it requires, inline. Edit names, edit descriptions, add tests, or remove them before approving

* **Cited Sources**: Every test keeps a reference back to the document it came from, so reviewers can trace each control to its origin

* **Manual Path Unchanged**: The existing Manual creation tab is untouched for teams that prefer to build workflows by hand

Document-driven creation turns the slowest part of standing up a new workflow (translating a policy into tests) into a review step, while keeping you as the authority on what actually gets saved.

## **Subject External Link Templates**

Admins can now configure URL templates that turn subject IDs across Cable into clickable links to your internal systems, like case management tools, KYC platforms, or anywhere else your team needs to jump to.

**Key Features:**

* **Template Management**: Create, edit, and delete link templates from Settings → Preferences, with a label, subject type, optional group label, and URL template

  ![Subject External Link Templates](/_fern-img/0a33a229af74b84f5ffbf7e7c683210b436ab267a187bc744045faba867bb73e.webp)

* **Per Subject Type**: Configure different links for different subject types so each subject only shows the destinations that make sense for it

* **Multiple Links Per Subject**: Add as many templates as you need; group labels keep them organized when there are several

This eliminates the copy-paste-into-another-tab step that compliance teams hit dozens of times a day when investigating subjects across systems.

## **Welcome Modal for New Users**

First-time users now get a quick tour of Cable's main surfaces (Tests, Paper Trails, Risk Assessment, Actions, and Settings) the moment they sign in, with deep links into each section.

**Key Features:**

* **Personalized First-Run**: Greets each new user by first name with product-accurate descriptions of where to go for what

  ![Welcome Modal](/_fern-img/d80d089d68c5b26dfdd745ebdd45265073424e0fd1273a6b67e3d4bce3fd3cba.webp)

* **Replayable Anytime**: A "Welcome to Cable" link in the sidebar footer reopens the modal whenever someone wants a refresher

* **Existing Users Unaffected**: The modal only auto-opens for users created after this release, so your current team won't be interrupted on their next login

Faster, more confident onboarding for new teammates, without forcing them to find the right surface by trial and error.

## **User Export and Last-Login Tracking**

Settings → People now supports exporting your full user list as a CSV, with last-login timestamps recorded per user, built for the access reviews that compliance and security teams run on a recurring cadence.

**Key Features:**

* **CSV Export**: One click downloads name, email, role, status, date added, date suspended, and last login for every user in the org, including suspended accounts
* **Last-Login Timestamps**: Login times are now captured across every sign-in method (SSO, password, and first-time registration) so the export carries a meaningful access signal
* **Refreshed People Tab**: The action buttons have been polished with consistent icons and a clearer separation between primary and secondary actions

Whether you're pruning dormant accounts or producing evidence for an auditor, the data you need is now one click away.

## **Self-Serve User Deactivation**

Org admins can now deactivate users directly from Settings → People, replacing the support-ticket flow that engineering had been running by hand. Deactivations are scoped per-org, fully audited, and reversible.

**Key Features:**

* **Row-Level Actions**: Each user has a menu with the right action for their state. Deactivate for active users, Resend Invite or Deactivate for invited users, Reactivate for deactivated users. A confirmation dialog spells out what's preserved and what's removed

  ![Self-Serve User Deactivation](/_fern-img/1599a2b6c43cbebcaa4d08b1928ffa0c7d57ca63d5135d3803c04aa9bb2705fd.webp)

* **Per-Org Scope**: Removes the user from this organization only. Memberships in other orgs stay intact, so parent-org admins can offboard from their own org without affecting child-org teams

* **Last-Admin Protection**: Cable refuses to deactivate the final remaining admin of an organization, preventing accidental lockouts

* **Reactivation via Re-Invite**: Restoring access reuses the standard invite flow. Past activity, comments, trail events, and investigations all remain attached when the user returns

* **Audit-Ready Export**: The user CSV now captures the deactivation date and who performed the deactivation alongside the existing fields, built for the recurring access reviews that compliance and security teams run

* **Show Inactive Users Toggle**: A new switch on the People tab reveals deactivated and suspended members for review and reactivation

Departures, contractor turnover, and quarterly access reviews are now fully self-service for org admins, with a complete audit trail attached to every change.

## **Resend Invite**

Org admins can now resend an invite directly from Settings → People for any user still in the Invited state. No more reaching out to support to recover a stale invite link.

**Key Features:**

* **Self-Serve Action**: A Resend Invite link appears next to any invited user; clicking it generates a fresh invite code and re-sends the email
* **Safe on Failure**: If the email fails to send, the original invite code is preserved so the original link keeps working
* **Permission-Gated**: Only available to admins with user-invite permission on the organization

A small but frequently-asked-for fix that closes the gap between "invited a teammate" and "they're actually in the app."

## March 31, 2026

## **Bulk Assign Controls**

Controls can now be assigned with adequacy and effectiveness ratings applied across all sibling risks in a single action, eliminating the need to update each risk individually.

**Key Features:**

* **Bulk Apply Adequacy & Effectiveness**: When editing a control's adequacy or effectiveness rating, a checkbox lets you apply the same value to that control across all other risks in the group at once

  ![Bulk Assign Controls](/_fern-img/57bb009018528e825ce2afc64d532c13b165f93ce6e9e04c4dd1bfad89ebf8fa.webp)

* **Assurance Connection Toggle**: The Add Control modal now shows a toggle for controls connected to Assurance, letting you choose whether to pull effectiveness from Assurance or set it manually

* **Smart Pre-fill**: The Add Control modal pre-fills adequacy and effectiveness from the most recently updated instance of that control across sibling risks, reducing repetitive data entry

This is especially useful for frameworks where the same control appears across many risks and ratings need to be kept in sync.

## **Document Request Improvements**

The document request flow has been updated to make it clearer for users submitting documents and to reduce confusion around version labels.

**Key Features:**

* **Improved No-Document Flow**: A contextual "Don't have this document?" link now appears below the upload dropzone, replacing the buried dropdown action. Clicking it opens a modal to mark the request as not provided with a note

  ![Document Request Flow](/_fern-img/ccf0fb35f3cb796c45671999c7c391bc288364268c1a39b5761d4d373cc97312.webp)

* **Auto-Submit on Upload**: When a user uploads a file from a not-provided state, the request automatically transitions to submitted with the correct history recorded

* **Submitted Version Label**: The version shown on a document request is now labeled "Submitted Version" instead of "Current Version" to reflect that it may be an older version linked at request time, not the latest

## **File Download Improvements**

Files downloaded from Cable now use their original filename and open correctly in the appropriate application.

* **Original Filenames Preserved**: Downloaded files now use the filename from when they were uploaded, rather than the internal storage key
* **Correct File Types**: Office files (.pptx, .docx, .xlsx) that were previously misidentified as ZIP archives now open correctly in their respective applications

## **Other Improvements**

* **Document Date Fix**: Document expiry and effective dates now display and save correctly regardless of the viewer's local timezone
* **Removed Redundant Upload Modal**: The standalone upload modal has been removed from document list views — document uploads now go through the full document version form for consistency

## February 28, 2026

## **Workflows**

Workflows are now available, enabling banks and fintechs to automate compliance sample testing and QA from day one, with no integration required. Upload files (e.g. .pdf, .csv, .png), build reusable multi-step tests, and get structured results - all without writing a single line of code.

![Workflows](/_fern-img/e16b68ef428a77be092ec7cb1be217b3eee89bf52511b8be9c05fa7c8b5e4035.webp)

**Key Features:**

* **Generate Tests from Documents**: Upload a QA checklist, a regulation or procedures and let Cable's AI generate control tests automatically, eliminating the need to manually re-enter existing test specs

  ![Generate Tests from Document](/_fern-img/a4fc0a43b07c5e9620d07c18ef6b5a4c91705f53396d9313137094e39393820c.webp)

* **Clone Workflow**: Duplicate an existing workflow — including all its test steps — with a single click. Useful for compliance teams managing similar workflows across multiple programs

* **Drag-and-Drop Uploads**: Drop files directly onto the workflow run zone without clicking through a file picker

* **Run Results**: View structured pass/flag results with analysis reasons for each test, and export results as CSV

Workflows are available for limited Beta to organizations with the feature enabled. Contact [Synctera support](mailto:support@synctera.com) to get access.

## **Subjects Dashboard**

The new Subjects Dashboard in Analytics provides visibility into subject-level test results, recurring issues, and remediation patterns across your compliance program.

* **Active QA Trails**: Segmented bar visualization showing New, In Progress, and Overdue trail counts at a glance

* **Per-Area Drill-Downs**: Expand any compliance area to see check-level tables and trend charts for granular performance analysis

* **Summary Metrics**: Regulatory requirements, internal controls, and streak tracking for days without breaches or failures

Both dashboards benefit from pre-computed analytics tables that deliver results faster than before, ensuring a responsive experience even for organizations with millions of test results.

## **Document Carried Files**

When renewing a document version, files from the previous version are now automatically carried forward into the new version form.

**Key Features:**

* **Automatic File Carry-Forward**: Previous version files appear pre-populated in the renewal form with a "Current" badge, saving time on version creation
* **Mix and Match**: Add new files alongside carried files, or remove carried files you no longer need
* **Carried-Only Support**: Submit a renewal with only the carried files if no new uploads are needed

This streamlines document renewals for teams that frequently update versions while retaining the same supporting files.

## **Other Improvements**

* **Document Version History**: Archiving a document version now records a history event in the audit trail for complete lifecycle tracking
* **Avatar Fix**: Resolved a visual artifact that caused a square shadow to appear behind circular user avatars
* **Organization Column**: The tests table now correctly displays the organization column for parent organizations with a single child
* **Test Result Terminology**: Test results now consistently use "flag" instead of "fail" to better reflect compliance review language

## January 31, 2026
